Course Overview

  • Course Description

    The General English Program is aimed at preparing students to communicate confidently and correctly in the Australian environment. The student is provided opportunity to have classroom based, student centred, and task bask based learning activities along with sessions to achieve communication skills. The course has levels which are hierarchical, facilitating students to move on from lower level to higher level. Successful completion of the course provides opportunities to communicate in the external environment and meet language requirements to take up vocational education in Australia.

  • Qualification

    Students are given certificates on achieving the passing grade in each of the levels from Elementary to Advanced.

  • Course Duration

    This course is offered full time over 12 to 65 weeks based on the level of learning required to meet language criteria for entry into academic or VET courses. Students who successfully complete Elementary level may progress onto Pre-Intermediate level (or pass the pre-entry test at elementary level) Students who successfully complete Pre-Intermediate level may progress onto Intermediate level (or pass the pre-entry test at Pre-Intermediate level) Students who successfully complete Intermediate level may progress onto Advanced level (or pass the pre-entry test at Intermediate level). Students intending to take entry into certificate courses or Diploma courses can complete to the required level of General English in the entry criteria.

  • Contact Hours

    20 hours per week for the period of study. Additionally, students are expected to do at least 10 hours of individual study per week utilising external opportunities and/or the facilities and resources available at KIMT.

  • Tuition Fee : AUD $18500
